Solve It...
My 6 Month Project
My EPA Diary
In order to keep track of what progress I made for 'Solve It...', and when, I created an EPA diary.
The Live Show
At the end of the project I put together a Live Show. We watched through the tasks, had a lot of audience participation, we even had a live task on the night.
Prize
To bring the competitiveness to the live show, I purchased a very fancy trophy to be awarded to the winner of the show.
Supporting Documents
The Solve It... project, developed for 20Twenty Productions, aimed to deliver a Taskmaster-style live show that fosters creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork among young people while engaging their families and the wider community. To ensure the project met its objectives, I created four key documents: the Project Brief, the Risk Assessment, the Budget Proposal, and the Branding Evaluation. Each document played a vital role in guiding the project from concept to completion by addressing its goals, safety considerations, financial feasibility, and brand alignment.
The Risk Assessment
This document identified and evaluated potential hazards associated with the event, which was held at my Home Training Centre as well as the March Town Hall's Skoulding Suite. Using a detailed risk assessment, I assessed the likelihood and severity of risks such as slips, trips, falls, impact injuries, and data protection issues. Each hazard was paired with controls to mitigate risks, like securing cables, supervising participants, and obtaining consent for filming.
This assessment was essential to ensure the safety of contestants, crew, and the audience, providing a structured approach to monitor and reduce risks throughout the event. It demonstrated my commitment to compliance with health and safety standards and proactive risk management.
The Budget Proposal
The original budget proposal totalled £600.55, including costs for contestant travel, event supplies, prizes, and equipment such as the Hollyland Lark M2 microphone. However, after receiving feedback that the actual budget was only £150, I re-evaluated and streamlined the proposal to £148.87, focusing on essentials like SD cards, sealing wax, and a prize fund.
This process required resourcefulness and financial discipline to ensure the project was delivered successfully within constraints. By prioritising core materials and affordable alternatives, I maintained the quality and objectives of the event while adhering to the budget limitations.
The Branding Evaluation
The branding evaluation assessed the Solve It... project’s alignment with 20Twenty Productions' mission and visual identity. It highlighted how the series fosters creativity, confidence, and teamwork among young people, directly supporting the organisation’s goal of enhancing social mobility in Fenland and Cambridgeshire.
Recommendations included ensuring consistent use of 20Twenty’s colour palette and tone of voice, as well as emphasising the educational and developmental benefits of participation. By refining visuals and incorporating calls-to-action in social media posts, the evaluation aimed to strengthen the project's brand identity and engagement.
The Project Brief
The Solve It... brief outlined key deliverables, including a live show featuring interactive tasks, audience participation, and social media content. The project needed to be delivered within a limited budget and timeframe, with minimal reliance on props. Success was measured through audience engagement, positive feedback, timely execution, and alignment with 20Twenty’s mission
These documents collectively highlight my ability to manage risks, adapt to constraints, and ensure brand consistency. They also demonstrate my project management skills, creativity, and alignment with organisational goals, showcasing the comprehensive planning and execution that supported the Solve It... project’s success.
