EPA Diary
This diary documents my journey working on the Solve It... project, a creative taskmaster-style production undertaken as my 6-month project for my apprenticeship. From initial planning to the live show, here’s how the project unfolded:
First Solve It... Post
March 2024: The Beginning
- 6th March: Chose the name Solve It... via a poll with colleagues. Began creating a cast list and finalised three team members and two young people. Placeholder date for the live event set for 28th September.
- 7th March: Confirmed Max as Alex Horne and Nia and Caden as contestants.
- 12th March: Secured Katherine as Greg Davies and added Liv, Lennon, and Pippa as contestants.
- 13th March: Distributed consent forms to all participants, started listing tasks, and created initial social media posts.
- 15th March: Received all consent forms, drafted a budget proposal, and created a project logo.
- 19th March: Finalised budget proposal and tasks.
- 22nd March: Selected filming dates.
April 2024: Preparing Logistics
- 11th April: Booked the Skoulding Suite and sent calendar invites to all participants. Held an EPA catch-up meeting with Max.
- 12th April: Shared filming dates and key information with participants via WhatsApp.
- 24th April: Started completing the case file social posts with available information.
May 2024: Final Details
- 15th May: Sent filming reminders to participants.
- 21st May: Sent tasks for printing, purchased sealing wax, and 3D-printed a custom stamp.
June 2024: Filming Begins
- 4th June: Recruited Lily, Oliwia, and Maisie to help film, confirming their availability.
- 5th June: Ordered additional storage (three 64GB SD Cards and two 64GB Micro SD Cards).
- 8th June: Completed risk assessments and held the first filming session with Lennon.
- 20th June: Developed a new style of social media post.
- 21st June: Uploaded the new social posts to Buffer and started editing Lennon’s tasks.
- 26th June: Designed a floor plan for camera and GoPro placement.
July – September 2024: Filming & Finalising
- 3rd July: Taskmaster role shifted to Kylan; began producing Meet the Solvers social posts.
- 14th July: Filmed Caden’s tasks.
- 3rd August: Filmed Nia’s tasks.
- 17th August: Team filming day with Liv, Caden, and Lennon.
- 1st September: Filmed Pippa’s tasks.
- 7th September: Filmed Liv’s tasks.
- 15th September: Team filming day with Nia and Pippa.
- 26th September: Completed all editing.
- 27th September: Kylan dropped out as Taskmaster. Secured Eden to step into the role just in time for the live event.
28th September 2024: Live Show Day
The culmination of months of hard work. The live event brought together the cast, crew, and audience to enjoy the fruits of this creative journey, with Eden stepping in as Taskmaster on the day and delivering a fantastic performance.
This project allowed me to hone my skills in project management, creative direction, and technical production, while also capturing the essence of teamwork and adaptability.
